Activities

At the Steamboat Hills Country Club, you can enjoy a variety of different activities depending on the season.

Summer:

  • Play a round or two on our 9 hole whiffle golf course. This is not your typical neighborhood garden game. Covering nearly two acres of varying terrain, this course will challenge even the best golfer. With Whiskey Creek running through the center, players must navigate several creek crossings.
  • If golf holds no interest for you, then take a stroll on our quarter mile nature trail. Steamboat Hills offers a wide range of local flora and fauna. Some of the plants you may see are Columbine, Wild Rose, Yarrow, Sage and Wild Mint. Over 20 different species of birds call the willows of Steamboat Hills their home. Flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds and Goldfinches chatter away throughout the day. A spring fed pond is also located on the property and the patient observer may catch a glimpse of a frog or a glimmering dragonfly.
  • Steamboat Hills is also a place for people to simply relax, decompress from a hectic work schedule, and enjoy the peace and quiet. There are many places along the course to sit and read a book, sketch the landscape or just watch the golfers play. If you really need to get away, the grounds have small, secluded clearings in the willow thickets. Here you can be alone to meditate, clear your thoughts or take a nap.

Winter:

  • The Steamboat Hills Country Club is located just six miles from Mt. Werner and some of the best powder skiing in North America. Guests at the club may enjoy free shuttle service to and from the mountain, guided skiing and access to discount lift tickets. After a day on the slopes, relax those sore muscles in our jacuzzi spa and unwind with an Apres ski cocktail.
  • Once the snow starts to fall, the golf course quickly becomes buried under a blanket of snow. Perfect for stepping into a pair of snowshoes and walking our winter nature trail. Gone may be the flowers, however, stirrings of life are still around. White Ermines run across the snow field, only visible by the black tip on their tails, and Chickadees fly back and forth from feeder to willow branch. The trail winds its way around the property, crossing the creek in some spots and traversing uphill and downhill.
  • Should the weather prove to be a bit too inclement for outdoor activities, guests may enjoy the hospitality that the clubhouse has to offer. Enjoy home-cooked meals prepared by our in house chef. Mingle with other guests while playing games or racing cars on our slot car track. You can also sit back, enjoy a vintage Merlot and watch the snow fall outside as you sit next to the fire.

The Steamboat Hills Country Club is all about having a good time. We aren’t your typical stuffy, members only type of place and we want our visitors to enjoy themselves. We do not enforce a dress code on our guests. In fact, the staff can be found lounging in their pajamas well past noon.

Man’s best friend need not miss out on the fun. Steamboat Hills may be the only dog-friendly country club around. So, if your dog is friendly and well-mannered, bring him or her along. Be warned; due to the accessability of Whiskey Creek, Fido or Fee-fee may get a bit wet and muddy.

The Steamboat Hills Country Club is also available to host your special event. Whether it be a birthday party, family reunion, or business function, we can help. Our facilities are also available for marriages and baptisms. Yes, you can be baptized by our in-house minister in the cool waters of Whiskey Creek. Please feel free to contact us to make arrangements for your next special event.
